Ingredients

  • 2 cups maize meal (for Sadza)
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons Kefalos Butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bunch leafy greens (e.g., spinach, muriwo, or munyemba), chopped
  • 1/4 cup Kefalos Fresh Cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Kefalos Cheddar Cheese, grated (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sadza:
    • Bring 3 cups of water to a boil in a pot.
    • In a separate bowl, mix 1 cup of cold water with the maize meal to create a smooth paste.
    • Add the maize meal paste to the boiling water, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
    • Gradually add more maize meal while stirring until the mixture thickens.
    • Lower the heat and let it simmer, stirring occasionally until fully cooked.
  2. Cook the Vegetables:
    • In a pan, melt Kefalos Butter over medium heat.
    • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until golden brown.
    • Add the chopped leafy greens to the pan, stirring to combine with the onions and garlic.
    • Cook until the greens are tender.
    • Stir in Kefalos Fresh Cream and cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the cream to coat the vegetables.
  3. Serve:
    • Serve the Sadza hot, with the creamy vegetable mixture on the side.
    • Optionally, sprinkle grated Kefalos Cheddar Cheese over the vegetables for an extra creamy and flavourful twist.
